On May 1, 2008, the State of Connecticut enacted an amendment to Section 31-51i of the general statutes requiring consumer reporting agencies to implement new procedures when reporting public record criminal history information for employment purposes. Specifically, at the time a consumer report is published to an end-user, a consumer reporting agency must also provide a notice to the consumer that it is reporting criminal matters of public record. This notice must also include the identity of the end-user who requested and received the report. In addition, the law mandates that consumer reporting agencies maintain procedures designed to ensure that any criminal information it reports is complete and up-to-date. To comply with this law, Frasco® Profiles provides all Connecticut consumers with a free copy of his or her report prior to providing the report to the end-user. Frasco will wait a reasonable period of time after providing the report to the consumer before making the report available to the end-user. Due to this requirement, end users may experience a delay in receiving reports containing criminal records.
